Special Pharma Designs
Certain applications have special requirements with concern to cleanability, drainability and sterility of equipment.
Surface finish, quality of construction materials as well as overall design of the equipment may heavily influence the above issues.
3V Tech's Coceim division is concerned with such special requirements and developed solutions to satisfy them.
Cleaning In Place (CIP) systems
Cogeim equipment is designed for process performance. Cleaning of the equipment is required in between batches or campaigns. Opening of the equipment is normally undesired because of exposure issues as well as time losses. In certain cases these designs make it difficult to clean certain recessed areas with standard CIP devices such as spray balls.
Some examples :
Nozzle necks
Dust filter cartridges,
Mechanical seal connection
Discharge port
Cogeim develops specific CIP systems and performs cleaning in place (Riboflavin) tests in order to prove their performance, prior to shipment.
Drainability
Drainability is also very important with regards to both Cleanability and Sterility. The main issue is to minimize all dead volumes where product and other content cannot be automatically removed.
Cogeim has developed special solutions to overcome such problems :
Nutsche Filter - Dryer "3 O-Ring" design which removes all filter screen screws in contact with product
Special Nutsche Filter - Dryer sloped drain bottom
Sterility
A prerequisite of sterilization in place (SIP) is perfect cleanability and drainability. Sterilization of pressure vessels is preferably obtained with flowing steam.
Cogeim acquired specific experience in design, manufacturing and validation of equipment for sterile applications.
