Glass Lined Biconical Dryer
Model DC

Features

  • The biconical or double cone dryer is named for its characteristic shape of two cones connected to a short straight wall and dries the contents via a heating jacket. This assembly is mounted at the tips of the cones using bearings each resting on support piers. The product to be dried and the heating fluid enter into the vessel and jacket respectively though access points on either side through the rotary joints.

The unit rotation is controlled via a drive and motor on one side while vapor supply and condensate drainage of the fluid in the jacket are on the other. A vacuum suction pipe passes through the feed side of the rotary seal system and typically contains a sensor to measuring the internal process temperature of the unit.

A 2xPt100 and a 4-20mA Hart transmitter is supplied for internal vessel temperature detection.

Pressure Transmitter
An internal pressure transmitter with Hart communication is supplied.

Personnel Safety
For personnel safety a key interlock system has been implemented. The operator can access the unit (rounding area, manway, sight glass) only by using the key box system. Each key can be released only if all movements are stopped and power interrupted. This system includes an electric power cut off switch that must be wired between the power source and motors.

Docking System for Automatic Filling & Discharge
For automatic filling and discharge operations, we offer a split valve based system.. To charge, a telescopic system with 75mm stroke connects the active (alpha) part of a split valve to the passive (beta) part mounted onto the dryer. When the two parts are connected, the valve can be opened like a butterfly valve to charge the dryer. This system must be operated at ambient pressure and at max 80°C.  System is operated with a pneumatic butterfly valve between the passive part and the internal of the dryer. The docking system is in stainless steel 316L. The same assembly is used for discharge.
