SHORT PATH EVAPORATOR



MODEL SPE

The Short Path Evaporator SPE is an Agitated Thin Film Evaporator TFE/P with a built-in condenser in the evaporation chamber, mounted coaxially to the rotor, which results in a very short distance between the heating and condensing surfaces.

The Short Path Evaporator SPE is the best solution for molecular distillation and purification of extremely heat-sensitive substances and products with very high boiling point, under extreme vacuum conditions. For this type of applications, the pressure drop of the external condenser would be unacceptable.

In a multi-stage system, Short Path Evaporators can be used as final stage in combination with a Thin Film Evaporators . 

FEATURES

  • Positioning the condenser inside the vertical wiped thin film evaporator allows operating at a process pressures down to 0,001 mbar

  • Operating at very high temperature (350-400°)

  • The rotor increases the turbulence of the product, rising greatly the process side heat transfer coefficient, even with viscous fluids

  • Rotor induced shear decreases the viscosity of some products

  • Very short residence time and narrow residence time distribution

  • One-trough operation, therefore also very low liquid hold-up

  • Rapid surface renewal

  • High heat and mass transfer performance thanks to high surface flux
